Chelsea Christmas Party!

On a very festive note.... Chelsea Christmas Party is today. It starts at 4.30pm at Duke of York Square on the Kings Road. The Trees are up, bands and singers are ready, stores are open longer and the Farmers Market is open til 7!! I am a very big market fan, and this week for the party, they have brought out the famous Hog Roast that used to be there every week last year. Sadly, they have said they probably wont be around this year as often, although my mother tried her best to convince them by pointing out that the line behind us had roughly 30 people wanting their amazing hog roast! So if you head down, you can get free mulled wine, champagne, discounts in the stores, face painting, pies and other nibbles. A lot of the stores will actually be giving these out free. Oh yes and balloons! Ted Baker is giving out mulled wine, cava and mince pies... so good place to start! There are also chestnuts!!! Oh and heres a pic of the square if you decide to head down and dont know what it looks like. YAY FOR CHRISTMAS!!! Best time of the year!!!

second blogger...

All i can say to this is, the male model is gorgeous!!!! And much better styled than the first one. Love his hair!!! No other special comments,lol... sorry

first take on ted blogger

Watched the first blogger.. not too sure id really wear her choices... but nevertheless, this has been interesting... commentator guy is really cool, and the tweets people are sending in are both good and ridiculous.... ones asking for the girl to take off her bra... yeh boys, dont think the will be listening to you.

Taking on ted my way...

So Ive decided to post bits and pieces that just spark my interest while Im watching take on ted. Something that completely slipped my mind from before was that you can actually communicate direct from their website using twitter. You dont have to use the actual twitter website, but stay on their site commenting... thats if you have anything to say.

Take on Ted!!

I'm getting very excited with 30 mins to go until take on ted begins.... live feed at http://takeonted.com/ Its going to be a really fun experiment. I'm looking forward to see what people can come up with too. I love that they are streaming their live twitter feed too, so I can see my own name on their site, its like my 2 seconds of ted baker fame :P

Fashion fix! Ted baker goes live!

Ok I'm a huge fashion fanatic, which is one of the bonuses of living in Chelsea. One of my favourite brands is Ted Baker and Im loving their new campaign they are working on for the US. For a detailed explanation other than my own go to http://www.wallblog.co.uk/2010/11/03/ted-baker-uses-twitter-and-bloggers-for-us-online-push/
"Take on ted" is what they are calling "the world's-first, remote-controlled, digitally powered live styling project" Its going to be a live fashion studio on twitter to promote its new online store. Its taking place this friday... tomorrow at 6pm GMT!! Where 8 bloggers will get to style their own looks from the existing autumn/winter collection. All of which is done through tweets over 15 minutes. Follow @ted_baker tomorrow to join in on the action. Facebook is http://www.facebook.com/TedBaker
Each of the looks will be professionally photographed and shown over all Ted Baker's social media channels, including their website. Now theres more details than that, so follow the links to see more. I honestly hope this campaign works out for them because it is pretty interesting.

Heineken walk in fridge

So I'm late in posting this but I wanted to mention the Heineken walk in fridge that was at Duke of York Square in Chelsea for 3 days last week. Obviously from the title you can easilly assume what it was going to be. Now I didnt take any photos myself so I am using the official Heineken photos from their facebook http://www.facebook.com/heineken

After great success of the viral online and tv ad, bringing the fridge to life in London gave people the opportunity to go inside, scream and experience the joys of Heineken. They were entertained by a magician, served free beer by a (good looking) bartender and given a card for free beer at the pub. I definately appreciate Heineken more after this experience, as are my 50 or so friends that I called and pushed down through twitter and facebook. While it didnt impact all of London, it definately did bring some fun to what was a very cold day.

Gap goes back!

So as it turns out, enough ad folk and general design community have bagged the new gap logo so much that gap have decided to back track and return to the original old logo.... All that drama for nothing I guess. Atleast they got some talk, unfortunately for them the general public wasn't really aware of the change, so it might not even make a difference at all. Nice try gap, in this case, don't try rework something that's already working n that's iconic in the branding world. I remember billabong messed around with their logo a while back, don't know who noticed but I sure did. It turned me off the brand completely. Funny that a logo can have such an influence on a person, I never would have known that if I was say, my brother, a little engineering genious who doesn't even notice logos unless it's for ps3 ofcourse. I know he threw a fit over the change in typeface, although I dont think it was that dramatic. Heres his issue:

Yeo factor!

link to yeo valley ad: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOHAUvbuV4o&feature=youtube_gdata_player
There's an Ikea ad that's challenging it but I can't remember it as it came second. Shame they didn't air it earlier, maybe I would remember it. Back to xfactor!! Great talent tonight from the boys and Mary, particulary Aiden!! Gave me shivers!!

Yeo Valley yo!!!

So for anyone watching xfactor, you would have seen the new ad for yeo valley by BBH London. I haven't got access to the video right now but it's an interesting ad I must say. The reason I'm writing about it though is that I think they picked the best time to air it, kudos to the person that chose the prime spot at the start of the show before the less talented singers began. I'm not a fan of rap but it was very enjoyable n refreshing from the recent ads. That dancing owl was magnificent too. Great job BBH! Although downside is they convinced me to go and buy country clothes and not the actual product :D now please air that ad again!

Twittering n Googling

So if you back track and see the dates, you will see I took a bit of a hiatus. This was due to a combination of trying to figure out what to do next and lack of access to my computer. Well, no more excuses, time to get back to what it is I do best.... google, ask questions and just have fun! So I have a few things today:

1. GOOGLE!!!
As we all know, google loves having fun with their header, pacman being the one I will never forget. Today, however they have brought in music with a video. It is actually rather interesting, being made for John Lennons 70th Birthday is a good enough excuse I guess. I'm looking forward to seeing what else they can make me smile with.

2. GAP!

This is more a big deal in the US at the moment than in the UK, but I thought I would bring attention to the matter. GAP in the US has changed their logo, its done on their website, however it doesnt seem to be changed on the UK one. In changing their logo, I guess they knew it would spark talk about how hideous the new logo is in comparison to their old one, so they created themselves a little twitter war between @ and @ I do have to say, while I do hate the new logo, this twitter war seems to be working despite the ugly logo. Websites have also started up against the new one, such as http://craplogo.me/ By far the coolest site I have seen for this campaign... so go crap logo your name!

3. Harry Potter!!! :D
One of my favourite books and movies of all time has also joined the social network bandwagon. http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2010/09/hogwarts_gets_the_internet.html shows the article on the new campaign, using twitter, facebook, iphone, foursquare, youtube and etsy. The really cool thing about it is that its not the actors talking about what they are doing, its the characters themselves, which allows fans the opportunity to get to know them more and become "friends". With the end coming near of the whole harry potter movies collection, using social network which is booming with their audience right now couldnt been a better option.

boo World Cup... gooo tennis!!!

So bit slow on the blog front... finished up the super dooper work placement... will post a special post on it shortly... but for now to show that I do occassionaly write on here... just a quick snippet on the world cup... boooooo!! or not.... lol as some of you might know, Croatia are not in the world cup this year... never ever in my life has this happened, and its quite a shock as I dont know who to support.... many would say Australia?? And I probably should as I am from there, but how can you support a team you really arent fussed about even if your from there.... I think you need passion behind the team you support, not a lack of it. So I am boycotting my enthusiasm for the world cup this year... I will just play it by ear and show mediocre support... so go Australia... if they want to go! lol Otherwise Im going to support Germany as they are a great team, oh and U.S.A for my American friends, even though I'm pretty sure they have no chance of winning the world cup... sorry but its true.

Here are my group predictions or teams I want to go through:
Group A: France and Mexico
Group B: Argentina and Greece
Group C: England and Slovenia and USA (Im not narrowing it to 2 in this one as I know England will make it through but Id prefer Slovenia and USA)
Group D: Germany and Australia
Group E: Denmark and Netherlands
Group F: Italy and Slovakia
Group G: Brazil and Portugal
Group H: Spain and Switzerland

Well I hope you all enjoy this world cup... Im going to amuse myself with tennis instead.. Queens tennis, which is right by my house and Wimbledon which is coming up... and if anyone is up for a game of tennis, give me a call because I'm ready to play!!
Oh and ofcourse to pay my respects to Croatia.... Im going to spend some time there instead of cold england

Eurovison makes swedish points announcer huge!

So every year, loads of people gather around their tvs around the world to watch Eurovision... I can say this for sure because it has a huge following in Australia, and even though its shown a day late, its still just as entertaining... its just always been sad that we could never vote, but now living in England, I have been able to vote.. ofcourse I always vote for Croatia, unfortunately, my vote couldnt get them through to the finals.... I do wish however there was something we could have done about swedish presenter/singer Eric Saade. He seems to have shot to fame in just a few minutes over twitter, with everyone wanting to know who he was and why he was only announcing the points. As it turns out, he was actually a participant and didnt manage to make it past his countries preselection.
Here is the video that he tried out with. The name of the song actually suits him well, haha. So its probably safe to say, this guy will get more hits on youtube over the next few days than the actual winner, who is from Germany... although I have already forgotten her name, because as soon as the winner was announced, I jumped online to google this unfamiliar face and watch hundreds and hundreds of people twitter asking who is he, and they want to marry him... Its Europes Justin Beiber, well thats atleast my prediction, for now...

And for those that enjoy his music or just want to hear what else he has to offer

Placement updates

So quick update since I managed to spare a minute online... placement at Weapon 7 is going great! Working on some tough stuff, but we are dedicated to cracking this one brief!! Its times like this you wish you could get into the Planners head to see if there is some hidden meaning behind the wording they used, lol.
This is the link to the agency http://www.weapon7.com
Theres a wonderful bunch of people there, creatives and planners, and feels good not to be the only Aussie there... they seem to have a little grouping of International people... a spaniard, south african, new zealander and another Aussie. Definately helps you fit in, especially when the english people talk about their shows and gossip which you know NOTHING about! I know I live in London now, but Im still not as completely used to british humour, took me long enough to get used to american humour, and that was 4 years of it and living with americans.

One of our legendary leaders, Jason and the guys at the agency also have formed their own band and I have to say, they are pretty talented. Check them out here.. http://provenanceofsquid.blogspot.com/

Its been a great two weeks so far, and I have to thank Ant and Jason so so much for being so welcoming and helpful and giving us some great feedback on work. They don't just consider the work your doing for the agency, but they give you some great tips for what to add to your portfolio too. I will greatly miss them and everyone once we finish up.
Anyways its long weekend, so Im off, but since our placement has been extended, now got another week to enjoy ourselves and work our butts off! Hopefully the bribing with lollies and chocolates along with our ability to talk alot will win them over.... but thats just wishful thinking, lol.

PAC-MAN.... and placement!

So, happy 30th Birthday to PAC-MAN. With all the talk about the interactive pac-man game on google over the past 2 days, I thought Id just post it up on here to acknowledge the fact how awesome it is! It obviously shows how much of the world uses google and how using google as a platform to promote an anniversary of something or someone, it really gets the word out. I wonder what else google has up their sleeves.

As for more blogging, ive been off the net for a bit as I am currently on placement, and I thought id rather throw in 200% into my work then spend it online. My placement is going absolutely amazing! The agency is brilliant and all the people there are awesome! very friendly, funny, intelligent and extremely helpful. From suits to creatives, they are all up on the top of my list for genuine great people! Unfortunately I just got one week left, so I have to make the most of it, but I will miss them all.

Global advertising - Oreo sippy cup

Now I knew we would all learn alot from our ad classes at uni... but I think the class that has taught me more than anything was my global advertising class. Ever since I took that class, I keep seeing all the global ad rules I learnt and duplicates of ads that are tailored to different countries. One is for a shaver but I cant find it on youtube, so heres some for Orea. These are three of the same, but for different countries. I love that the kids say ha ha... my fave is the first one, the kid is so adorable, and works for me coz he reminds me of my little brother. And I think it works by varying the kids by the cultures because then people relate to it more, after all it would be a bit wierd watching the little blonde kid laughing in the Indonesian version (2nd one).

Hiatus due to birthday and moving house

So this is probably the longest break I have taken from regular blogging, and I will be back shortly. I have been rather busy recently with book crits with my copywriter and house hunting... house hunting taking every day where I wasnt on a book crit. Finally, yes finally I have found a new home and am moving in this coming week. Its going to cut an hour off my travel to my upcoming placement which starts on the 17th, so Ill be blogging about how excited I am about working there once I get started... yes prepare for all that is boring from my posts, lol. Even though I have found a place, I know how to pack our entire home, its pretty much me and my mum doing everything and my brother playing video games. We have done this a few dozen times, moving between Aus, Singapore and England, back and forth, in between towns and the such... I however had to make life more difficult and moved myself to the USA too, and every year I lived in a new dormitory, so I had the greatest pleasure of going in and out of storage with my things for a while... and to top it off I moved to atlanta for a semester, but it was right after spring break, so get this... I flew from Savannah GA up to NYC over to London, spent a week with the family, then the next week flew back down to Atlanta GA which is 4 hours by car from Savannah... all while carrying a load of suitcases of all my junk... I dont think I have ever lived in one place for more than a year since... 2003 i think. Funny thing is, its actually pretty fun! U find new ways to pack and travel all the time... and the speed you can do it at increases by hours and days each time.... Well Im off to finish packing up my room.. how Ill get my stuff to our new place, well thats undecided... 2 moves ago, we hired a taxi to move things for us, recently we just carried things ourselves... anyone want to take bets on whats up for this time? car? taxi? removalist? bus? take a pick!
To end the post, heres a nice little pic of the view from my bedroom of our apartment complex pool in Singapore

Pet car insurance

I just can't stop watching this ad, its cracking me up to bits. Its for a car insurance company, telling you they do pet cover aswell. I love that they used one of my favourite Australian comedians Corinne Grant. I used to watch her on Rove live when I lived back home. Her wolfhound Bryan seems to be enjoying himself too. It definately shows that the company is very friendly and more open to what people want and need. Go McCann!! Apparently its on radio and online too, but since I dont have access to aussie radio right now and no idea how to find the online stuff, Im settling with the tv ad, because it just cracks me up!!

Socceroos vs Wild Animals

This is a brilliant ad coming from M&C Saatchi in Australia. Its pretty much just Optus showing that they sponsor the Socceroos- The Australian National team. For those non Australians, Optus is a telecommunications company... so phones, internet... all that jazz. At first I thought it would just be the Socceroos playing with the traditional optus animals... all friendly, but I was wrong, it was intense and dark and the big and dangerous animals came out to play. The crocs definately have game!! Not sure if this comes from the Sydney office or Melbourne, but both offices have amazing staff onboard. Ive been to both offices back in 2008 and they are by far the most memorable bunch of people I have met... suits included! They even gave us free stuff!! I LOVEEE free stuff!! Anyways enjoy the ad.

Pizza hut nut

So I heard about pizza huts new pass it around pizza, which you can check out at http://www.passitaroundpizza.co.uk/ There you can play a game where you just pass around a ball with yourself... not too exciting, but as you play on gets a bit harder. Theres also facebook stuff and some competitions, as would be expected. Anyways I was waiting to see if Pizza Hut would get creative with their boxes, as hell pizza (http://www.hellpizza.co.uk/) has coffin shaped openings on their boxes. So I had to order pizza hut a few times, but finally today, the cool box arrived. I was pretty impressed. I wonder if they make rugby ones and tennis balls too.. would be interesting to see what shapes they can make to fit the pizza in... I should have taken a photo of the inside, but pretty much its not round... it like a hexagon i think.

Music is Important in Ads!! Repeat... important!!

An ad from my home Aus for todays post. Its an interesting ad I guess... not anything that blows my mind.. but the focus on this ad is on the music. Its always very important to choose the right song. You can't use a happy song for someone dying or a depressing song for kids cereal or toys... its just too polar. This ad isnt following that idea, but its following the.... eh just make up some junk and slap it in. The guy is off tune which is bugging me most of all. Anyways check it out for yourselves. The kid is a bit scary too, lol.

If only life could stop for pictures

I absolutely love this ad. I can't find a better word than "cool" right now, so thats what Im going with. It was done by DDB New York for Adorama. The big idea behind it is that life doesn't stop for pictures. And what better way to show a really fast shutter speed than to use a naked streaker. The other two however arent as funny as the first one, but they are stil interesting, focusing on the whole stopping what your doing for a photo.

Macca's makes you chase freebies

DDB Stockholm have an interesting approach to handing out freebies for McDonalds. The digital billboard gives people walking by the chance to take a photo of an item from McDonalds and take it in store to get it free. The items are an apple pie, coffee and a sundae. I managed to watch a video of how it works on ad age, but can't get back into the link anymore. Its also on creativity online on their pick of the day. You might think its simple to get it, but if you manage to catch a glimpse of the video, you will see they actually move very very VERY fast.
Theres a link to it on Ad age http://adage.com/bestads/ if you scroll down, but it just leads you back to creativity online, where you have to pay to watch it! come on!!!

Refreshing ambient from Coca Cola

This coca cola bus shelter hails from McCann Erickson in Turkey. Usually I love alot of the coca cola ads, like the awesome GTA ad a few years back... check it out if you dont remember it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7wt5FiZQrgM This bus shelter however bugs me... I feel like the fridge itself was good enough on its own, like on a nice hot summer day your sitting at the bus stop and open it up to be refreshed... they didnt have to overdo it with all the coca cola design around the bus stop... the iced chair I can sort of deal with because you would thing it would ice over with the amount of people opening a fridge for a refreshing bottle of coke. Those bottles by the way are not images, they are actual bottles, and im assuming they are glued down.. unless they have allowed it for people to be able to steal them... Im not in turkey so not sure how they have worked this out. Im a huge lover of ambient stuff, so this is a nice little thing to add to my collection.

CS5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finally, with the launch of CS5 here we have a better idea of when we can buy it, and ofcourse, how much it is going to cost us!! If you cant read the print, it says 1,773,08 pounds!! I dont have the pound key on my laptop coz i bought it from singapore, so settle with the words! lol. Im pretty excited that its finally here, some of the features are absolutely amazing! Although i worry for designers and the fact that anyone might be able to take their job now, hehe. If you have the time, go to the links below and check out some of the stuff that you would empty your pockets for.

Look at the snazzy modern packaging too!!
The launch videos are here:

Kermit says balls!!!

So, doing a bit of googling and youtubing, looking up some cancer charity ads, and stumbled across a bit of fun that a group of people made, its a bit of sony bravia bouncy calls meets kermit the frog. Their line is kermit the frog says balls to testicular cancer. My fave part is where kermit is spinning around on the beach with his friend, hehe. Its a very light hearted approach to cancer, definately doesnt leave you depressed at the end, although left me a bit confused, didnt even realise cancer had any relation to it.
Watch it at youtube here:

Electric cars coming from everywhere!

For those who don't know me I love technology and cars... lots and lots of cars! especially formula 1. I like to keep up to speed on the different types of cars being engineered recently, especially all the hybrid and electric cars. I don't own a car myself, so I like to think of myself as green friendly at the moment. So anyways while I was checking my daily news sites I came across a new electric car coming from Croatia! Croatia of all places... They were never known for cars... the adriatic perhaps and our amazing food and athletes, but thats it.
The car is called the XD concept, created by Dok-Ing. Dok-Ing are legends in my etes. I have seen them create vehicles for removing mines, which they have done amazing progress with. Anyways back to the car. Its a 3 seater electric car, has 360 degree airbags, butterfly doors, Mclaren F1 style seating position, 'x' shaped tail lights, safety system for electic stability, ABS brakes and power steering. The 32 kWh battery can go for 200-250 km with a charge time of anywhere between 2 to 8 hours, 8 hours only being 80% though. They say another 2 hours could shoot it up to 100%. It is 2.8 metres long, with an interior height and width of 1.6 metres by 1.7 metres. The EV motor takes it from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, which is said to be one of the fastest compared to the average 10 seconds for other EV city cars.
There are already 50 orders for Croatian customers, the first being a major Croatian shopping store mogul. Unfortunately they need an investor, so if you are a millionaire looking to invest, Id say this is a good move, hehe
The initial costs are around 30,000 euros due to battery costs, but the company is hoping that once in mass production, the car can be priced at less than 20,000 euros. I would definately be up for that!! If you want more, go to:
http://xdconcept.com/

Oh and one more note.... it crossed my mind that the name of it; XD is a very happy smiley!!
coincidence? I think not! (Pictures are all below)

Cambridge win boat race!

CAMBRIDGE WINS BOAT RACE!! Cambridge have won the Xchanging 2010 Race, also known as the Oxford & Cambridge boat race if you don't care for the sponsors. It was a stressful race, and I wasnt sure who to go for seeing as though I was going to go to either of them for my masters degree, that is up until St Andrews gave me a place and offered a better degree :) Alas now that I have my copywriter by my side, I dont plan to go for my masters anytime soon, although down the line I will, even if I am 40 years old, as its been my dream since I was a little kid to go to one of them... well to be honest to the 10 year old me, it was always Oxford.... who unfortunately lost today. Anyways so the race started at Putney at the old boathouses. It started off well, not knowing who was going to win, although as they moved through the race around the bends, it was obvious cambridge was building themselves up for the finish. I assumed it wouldnt be a tight finish, but I didnt expect Cambridge to win that far ahead of Oxford.
Well I look forward to near years race, where I will be at the finish instead!! Oh and I want the Cambridge's wellies! Loving the new pale blue with funky stars.

Slapometer!!

I dont have much to say on this one as it speaks for itself, but it was worthy of a post...since its already getting its twittering. I have probably slapped each guy about 60 times in the past 2 mins... so enjoy it urselves!! Some fun from our friends at Albion :)

St Lukes like their old jam roll & vaginamite

The most hilarious thing to cross my path today is St Lukes blog. Ive seen a few of their love your vagina ads around. Such as this one which is at my local tube station.

Now i have followed St Lukes work for a while, and it wasnt until today I went to the website and realised what the whole vajajay thing was about. Anyways to get to the point... some of the name they have listed on their website are hilarious, it had my copywriter, my brother and myself laughing our heads off. "My old jam roll" is a fave with my CW, and I just cant pick one right now because Im still laughing at the ones popping up on the website at http://www.loveyourvagina.com/ My brother is liking "scrambled eggs between the legs". The only one I am questioning is the croatian one... zenskost... now being a Croatian myself, I have never heard anyone in my family say that before... but I should be glad because I never want to hear anyone saying any of these words!! Grandma and mum included! haha Although downstairs is the most common term I have heard being used. Should I risk it and ask my grandma what she calls it? hahahahahaha maybe not.
Anyways kudos to St Lukes, you can check out their blog at http://eatthewholebuffalo.blogspot.com/

New twist to tourism campaigns

Tourism Australia must have been annoyed with their where the bloody hell are you campaign... it didnt really represent Australia very nicely... yes i cant find a better word than nice. Im not a copywriter after all. Anyways, their new campaign which hasnt been put out yet, is just about to start up on a website http://www.nothinglikeaustralia.com/ where anyone can upload their own photos of what they love about Australia... such as the places, activites, food etc. I think this idea is pretty genious.... with alot of talking, they will draw alot of people to their website to upload photos and then word of mouth will help it more than anything, while people wait to see if their photo is shown to the rest of the world. This campaign allows people to see what is real and not what an agency is trying to show you... however thats also a bit iffy because the agency can moderate what photos are shown. So while people have freedom with what they want shown, who knows if it will be accepted as good enough to represent Australia.
I wonder if they will take this photo... Its one of the most popular kangaroo photos floating around the internet for a long time now, hehe

Tuesday 30 March 2010

Facebook needs a head check

As you probably see most of the time, facebook makes you type in these random word checks when you post a link or sometimes a photo on someone elses page... or even your own. Its usually random words like rooster orange or extradited fish.... yes I have had both of those, the second being a bit more ridiculous... but yesterday I got one that not only is random but makes you wonder how facebook allows the two words to come together. Now its not rude or anything, but the idea of filleting a human is well against the law I would say... but an 82 year old to add some more crazy to it?? I wonder if they are trying to tell us something... or teach us... well it definately had me pull out the old history textbooks on crime and punishment.

Can you sell a red brick??

Ever since I was 12 I have wanted to work at Ogilvy... probably has alot to do with the fact that Ogilvy on advertising was my first ad book and well David Ogilvy was just a genious! Anyways so to my wonderful friends and friends of friends who twitter on a daily basis... along with numerous tweets from the ad industry, I managed to find out about the Ogilvy One fellowship. Ofcourse its not as simple as applying with a CV or saying how wonderful you are, its a fun little competition where you do your best to sell a red brick!! yes a red brick!! Now fortunately its open to alot of countries, UK, US and Australia, so it allows all my ad friends and former class mates to give it a go.
It is a bit of deja vu for me, because in my last semester at university in my final examinations, one of the questions on global advertising exam was about selling a brick and what are the different uses and ways to see a brick. Being from Australia, I surprisingly know alot about building houses... but thats probably more due to the fact I know alot of builders through family and friends. Aside from that, when you have an extremely crazy mind that throws around millions of ideas a second, coming up with atleast 10 ideas for the use of a bring was boring... from what was supposed to be a short list, i wrote an essay on it... and even when the test was over, I went home to discuss the remaining thousand ideas i still had floating around.. safe to say, I probably would never get bored with a brick, hahahaha.

Anyways away from my ranting, If you head to http://www.youtube.com/ogilvy you can learn more about it.
Best of luck!! Oh and if you want to get more into it, I would say go and get a red brick!! lol

Bit of political nonsense

Ok so I am not British, and I am not on any particular side of the elections, so nobody should take anything I say too seriously. Im not really into politics in any place I can vote in actually. Whoever I like doesnt seem to win either. When I was living in America, I just followed who my friends went for and he didnt win, although I couldnt vote there so it didnt matter.... and in Australia, well I never like any of the guys up for prime minister... and in Croatia, well the guy I was voting for didnt even make it to the final stage of the elections... so really, my vote is useless when I hate everyone who ends up being in the final two. I just give up on following it. Anyways away from my ranting... I stumbled across an ad by M&C Saatchi today for the Tories, against Brown. Its quite simple really. His photo is hilarious! That dumstruck wierd smile that makes him look like an idiot... They have made about 7 ads, all with the same photo, but with different headlines.

The other five headlines are:
+ I let 80,000 criminals out early;
+ I doubled the tax rate for the poor;
+ I lost £6 billion selling off Britain's gold;
+ I caused record youth unemployment;
+ I increased the gap between rich and poor.

If you want to read more on it, go to http://conservativehome.blogs.com/thetorydiary/2010/03/tories-launch-antibrown-posters.html or http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1261303/New-Saatchi-poster-aims-tear-lumps-Brown.html
At the second website, you can see the old Tory posters where David Camerons face was photoshopped... theres some rather interesting ones there that apparently i had missed earlier in the year... but like I said, I dont care for politics, so I didnt notice, hehe

Random post day for a rainy day

Ok so in the spirit of randomness, which is something Im proud of being very talented at, I have been drowned with links today to various websites and music videos. First up is a link from Hello Creative on twitter http://www.nooooooooooooooo.com/
That is by far the most genious button Ive seen this year. I would have pressed it a million times already when working on the portfolio, lol.
Next one is one my marvelous copywriter gave me http://trololololololololololo.com/ Some fun little singing there... definately made my day. Ofcourse managed to send it over to about 30 people to make their day too, lol.

And finally some random and stupid music videos by Gunther. First one sent to me by the lovely Art Director Megan.

Photoshop getting even better!!!

Now we all know how photoshop is amazing and can save us, but also how alot can be very time consuming. After watching this short video sneak peak of the new things photoshop will be able to do, I am more amazed then ever. The tool is called content aware and it can alter images and remove things from photos that might typically take from hours to days in only 2 seconds and 2 clicks!! Take a quick look to see for yourself.

Ljubicic is victorious!!

Ivan Ljubicic beat Andy annoying Roddick in straight sets!! Was a tight match, they were neck and neck, both playing for their serves, which were hard to break, but thankfully Ljubicic was better with the tie breaker than Roddick... And in a case of tying this to advertising, well look at the whole court, its covered in it!! N its official name is the BNP Paribas Open... not Indian Wells Open... so there you have it, advertising is consuming sports! Although we already knew that. I used to go to the Adidas Open as a kid in Sydney, but now its called the Medibank Open! Would you rather go to a tennis tournament sponsored by a boring healthfund or a giant sports label such as adidas? Adidas offered games and free clothing and memorabilia for ticket holders... what did medibank offer?? oh thats right... nothing!! except a hat you had to pay 15 dollars for with their name on it! cmon!!!!!

Anyways I swear I go off track to easily.... My point is Ljubicic won and as one of the oldest players on the circuit, he has done them proud, showing you dont have to be young to be on top!!

As a huge tennis enthusiast myself, and while im blabbering on about it, I'm going make the introduction to my youngest little cousin Martina who is rising up on the international ladder. At the age of 14, she has trained with the famous Nick Bollettieri and been offered a spot on his training squad in florida where many top 10 players have played, been invited to numerous training squads around the world, won the Singapore National tournament and many tournaments in Australia, along with just this past week winning the Tildesley Shield for her school. Hopefully she will grace Europe this coming summer for her first European matches.

Marmite takes spoofing to a hot level!

So we have all probably seen these ads around London recently. Much better than those one where you see people throwing up marmite saying you either love it or your hate it. I thought id finally post this up as my street has been plagued with the posters, and I have been tempted to rip them down and take them home. Now while I love the posters, I would never in my life buy marmite, its not that I hate the taste, its just simple because I am a VEGEMITE girl and can't abandon my brand for another,lol... Clearly, by comparing the ads, you can tell vegemite isnt working as hard as marmite.... then again vegemite is well known enough as it is that it probably doesnt need it. Either way here is the link from a vegemite ad when they were working on their new flavour.

Intro to Mode!!

So I don't know how Mode is gonna feel about this, but I want to introduce the world to Mode!! ofcourse she needs no introduction, she is amazingly talented, studying in San Fran at the moment about to finish up her degree, but I am keeping my fingers crossed that after graduation, she returns to London to bless us all with her art.. and writing... and whatever else she wants to do!! lol So go over to her page and see what she is made of. http://modechronicles.blogspot.com/
I have known this gorgeous artistic girl since 11th grade where we shared a love for hiding from the crazy girls in our art class and relocating to the bottom section of the art room, and a mutal annoyance with french... even though she was much better than me... yes admit it you are!!
Now pack your bags Mode, and get back to London asap!! The world awaits your talent!

Im back, just like the Formula 1... very slow

Ok so internet buggered out on me thanks to the folks at BT, so managed to live off nothing for a while... with the odd trip to the pub to use their net or the trusty iphone. The first thing I want to turn your attention to is the formula 1 today. It was by far the most boring race I have seen in years. Im not sure if it was the stupid additions to the track, the new alterations to the formula 1 cars or the boring scenery of Bahrain, but worst race to start off! Im sure if they started off in Melbourne, it would have been more interesting. Its nice to see some new teams though like Lotus and Virgin Racing, and the return of the historic silver arrows team. I look forward to the next race, and hope that this last race will be burned out of my memory!! haha...

The worlds most intelligent soccer ball

For years, people have spent their time yelling at the reff for being an utter moron... unfortunately we cant control footballers behaviour on and off the field as we have noticed this year with all the behaviour coming from the english team/chelsea team, lol. And we can yell at the reff all we wont, but it wont do anything. We could however control the outcome of the ball and the game.. such as being off side and going out. This ball, designed by AGENT is called CTRUS, and it changes colour when the ball goes out or off side, and it even tells you the travel speed and strike force funny enough... gives me a strange idea that it could be like tennis serves where the speed gets put up on a board for everyone to see.lol. And ready for this one... IT HAS AN INBUILT CAMERA!!! It shows you the goal from the balls perspective... and you could probably even see if it was handball... its SUPER SMART I SWEAR!!! although not sure how much a header with this ball would hurt, lol.
